Downtown Chambersburg Inc, a 501c3 organization that’s focused on downtown revitalization in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. We follow the Main Street Four Point Approach and are members of Pennsylvania Downtown Center and the National Main Street Center.
For over 30 years, Downtown Chambersburg Inc, also known as DCI, has been leading the charge for strategic, smart and sustainable growth. DCI is a part of the Greater Chambersburg Chamber as an affiliate and our sister organizations is the Greater Chambersburg Chamber Foundation, Chambersburg Area Development Corporation, Cumberland Valley Regional Development Corporation, FCIDA, Community Development Corporation of Franklin County and Cumberland Valley Business Alliance.
Relationships with our sister organizations, the Greater Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce, Borough of Chambersburg, Franklin County Area Development Corporation and our downtown friend and partner Downtown Business Council of Chambersburg, a 501c6 merchants association, has allowed for our downtown to sustain, grow and thrive. We are grateful of all of the hard work by many.
We follow the Main Street Four Point Approach: Organization, Design, Economic Vitality and Promotions & Marketing. We strive to do our best in each category and have had or will continue to have programs, projects and initiatives in either of the Main Street Four Point Approach categories.
For economic vitality, as an example, DCI founded and sustained the Foundry Art Market, a cooperative for local artist to grow their entrepreneurial skills and a place for art to be sold to the community and celebrated, created a food and beverage revolving loan program and has recruited and retained many downtown businesses and small building developers and owners. For promotions & marketing, as an example, DCI has created in the past various downtown guides, events and has a social media platform over 24,000 followers and maintain current and engaging content for the greater community and downtown friends.
For design, DCI has been successful in multiple façade grant programs, totaling over $300,000 of investment. For organization, DCI has successfully built wide-ranging relationships to help DCI achieve special projects like ownership, expansion and renovation of the Capitol Theatre and launch of the Capitol Theatre Foundation (current owners of the theatre) or our current Amphitheater project. Also, for design, DCI has raised funds for the purchase and donation of benches to our Borough for Main Street and has been a leader in the development of Chambers Fort Park and the Greater Chambersburg Heritage Center.
We are beyond grateful to our sister organizations, Borough of Chambersburg, downtown residents, customers and fans, donors, sponsors and supporters, businesses, building owners and developers and community. We can see our impact in our downtown every day and we are looking forward to seeing what the next 30 years will bring.
