CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Finishing last in Downtown Chambersburg Inc.’s raffle drawing will be something to celebrate.
The inaugural Winners Finish Last Raffle flips the script on traditional raffles, with the last ticket drawn winning the grand prize of $3,000. In addition, every 10th ticket drawn will win cash or prize packages worth $150.
Only 300 tickets will be sold – for $75 each – and sales begin Friday, Oct. 30. Seventy-five tickets will be pulled at each of the drawings at noon Fridays, Nov. 27, and Dec. 4, 11 and 18, at downtown Chambersburg businesses. The grand prize winner’s ticket will be drawn Dec. 18, right before Christmas.
The first drawing is on Black Friday to celebrate the start of the holiday shopping season. Prizes will be purchased from local retailers to give them a boost.
DCI President Sam Thrush said the raffle is a great way to generate funds for the organization, which aims to drive economic development through business recruitment and retention, and creates programs that positively affect the look, feel and perception of Main Street. The fundraiser requires limited contact – a plus during the coronavirus pandemic – and having the drawings at different sites is a way to showcase various local businesses.
The events will be streamed live on DCI’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/downtowncburg), and feature on-air personality Ryan Smetzer and Thrush.
Tickets may be ordered online at www.downtownchambersburgpa.com/raffle-tickets and will be mailed to the addresses provided.
